SRM Talks celebrates its 4th Christmas
Once again, the SRM Talks team wishes you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2021. We hope industrial setbacks from 2020 are seen as more of an opportunity to create a sustainable tomorrow, rather than an economic loss. For the first time in so many years, the whole world faced a common challenge and everyone worked together to overcome it. We expect and hope that the climate crisis is seen and tackled in a similar manner. Let’s enter the new year 2021 with a goal to make our lives and planet more sustainable.
SRM Talks challenged by COVID-19 crisis
Like everyone else, 2020 hasn’t been kind to SRM Talks either. Major organizational changes were put in practice to fight the situation. Re-assigning tasks to make sure the sessions keep running virtually wasn’t easy. One major challenge that comes with virtuality is the privacy of speakers and participants. The team has been extremely cautious about any potential privacy breaches during the online sessions. SRM Talks values the needs of both speakers and participants and so far has done an amazing job to keep the sessions smooth and safe.
With new challenges come new opportunities. All physical activities were canceled including our delicious and fun networking dinner. However, the fact that online sessions allowed us to access speakers beyond the borders has helped us in many other ways. We could offer a wide variety of topics and invite experts from outside the European continent. Having experienced a complete online year, SRM Talks is looking forward to using some virtual activities in the post-COVID-19 world as well.
The progress so far
A highlight of this year is the launch of SRM talks’ official website. This will help us reach a wider range of audience and unlock unlimited partnership opportunities. Additionally, more content on the website means less content on paper. This will help us achieve our internal sustainability goals. SRM Talks is planning to launch its “Yearbook” magazine online as well. By doing so, more people could read it and with zero paper consumption.
SRM Talks has been successful in test live streams on YouTube and Facebook. The team is planning to implement this feature to target a broader audience in the upcoming sessions.
Some other features we are planning to introduce in the year 2021 include, special award for the most consistent participant, making SRM Talks merchandize more accessible to the participants and much more.
Thanks to you
SRM Talks wouldn’t have achieved its milestones without your support and participation. For this we are grateful and we hope to see more of you in the coming years. Thank you for being with us! Together we will provide sustainable solutions to global challenges.
